Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé are two players everybody are talking about right now. With the tragic gradual decline of Messi and Ronaldo, it's now time for the next generation to step up. If the past couple of years are anything to go by, the PSG and Manchester City stars look like they're going to spend the next ten years battling it out with each other for top spot. The footballing world spent years arguing over the Mess-Ronaldo debate, and it looks like they're going to continue in that vein with Haaland and Mbappé.
Haaland is a classic centre forward, a pure number '9'. He has that inherent goalscoring instinct. He can smell a goal from a mile off, minutes before it's even been scored. Unlike a 'traditional' striker, Haaland is incredibly agile and frighteningly quick. He is also extremely versatile for a '9' and is proving at Manchester City that he can not only do the striker stuff like get in behind and offer a lethal presence in the box, but can also drop deeper and link the play. He looks to be the 'perfect' striker.
Mbappe is characteristically more akin to a winger than a striker in the sense that he possesees explosive maveric qualities about him. He does also frequently operate as a central striker. He's frighteningly quick and terrifies defenses with his pace. His ability to spring on the counter attack means teams are forced to defend deep against the frenchman at the fear of being lethally punished if they lose possession. His dribbling is second to none as demonstrated by his ability to wriggle past several players at one go. At his best he's unstoppable.
It's no surprise that both players have been on the radar of the world's biggest and best clubs for years. Both have been targets for Real Madrid and for the first time in a long time, Florentino Perez didn't get either of them.
